i'm sorry, but the high drama of tonights cubs game was just too rich. cubs ahead 3:0 in the eighth inning, when a misguided cub's fan snatches away a fly foul ball that the cub's Alou practically had in his glove. this somehow shifts the entire momentum of the game, and suddenly the Marlin's surge into a 8:3 lead, winning the game and taking the cubs all the way to game 7. oof! they are wisely not releasing the identity of the eternally infamous fan, who luckily got escorted out right away, protected by security guards - but not before being doused with beer and pelted by the surging booing mob of tens of thousands of irate cubs fans. that guy is never gonna live this down. mark k, did you see this? cubs drama at its finest.  too much... I have two favorite teams....the White Sox and who ever is playing the Cubs!

What an amazing deflation of the entire outdoor beer garden called Wrigley - and it all happened in what, 90 seconds?  Yes!!!

Brian---
Unfortunately, when I went to the ABC NEWS website i saw the following headline:

"Fan Who helped Cubs lose game is Identified"

They then went on to give his name and where he works(he called in sick today naturally). I couldn't believe it. The poor guy!!

i KNOW - i saw the same info on the suntimes website today, and i couldn't believe it. i thought for once the media was going to show some restraint, but they listed his suburb, full name, where he worked, etc. even though they did lose tonight *sniff* it seemed like people had already moved on to pragmatic reasonability, and were cutting the guy some slack. hopefully the whackos follow suit.

Yes, Brian, I am relieved that the Cubs didn't make it.  Cub fans can be brutal, so its nice that they have now been quieted.

I am, however, concerned for that young man's well being.  He is now in hiding and his home is under police protection.  What a mess!

I know this topic has been tucked away. I came across this and had to laugh as one of the players recently mentioned the "goat" after he ends up injuring himself during batting practice of all places.

So for the sake of some humor here is the top 5 moments for the Cubs this year.

1. For whatever reason in a moment where he must have been possessed Cubs catcher punches AJ Pierzinski and once the ensuing melee passes the next batter hits a grand slam.
2. In a classic moment at Wrigley Cubs winning(an unusual occurence this year and even with 2 outs in the 9th) Shocked Guess who hits the game winning 3 run homer(AJ Pierzinski) Grin Sure seems like a cursed team to me. OK very bad team maybe.
3. In another rare moment where the team is winning and a pop fly bounces off the 3rd basemans head and into left field.
4. The reigning NL batting champ and gold glove 1st baseman breaks his hand in a freak accident on the same play the pitcher is injured fielding the ball and subsequently flipping the ball toward 1st base.
5 2nd baseman is awarded two errors on the same play 1 for dropping a relay throw from right field and the other for his own wild relay throw.

Ok so very soon the Bears start training camp and we'll have the Sox in the playoffs again. Now back to our normally scheduled programming.  Grin
