All fairest beauty Heavenly and earthly, Wondrously, Jesus is found in Thee; None can be nearer, fairer, or dearer, Than Thou my Saviour art to me...German 17th Cent.

I sought the Lord, and afterword I knew He moved my soul to seek Him, seeking me: It was not I that found, O Saviour true; No, I was found of Thee.....Thou didst reach forth Thy hand and mine enfold; I walked and sank not on the storm vexed sea; 'twas not so much that I on Thee took hold, As Thou, dear Lord, on me.  Anon.

 Cheesy

a poem from the book: Tales of the Tardy Oxcart.

Under the subject of Maturity:

Called: AFTER A WHILE

After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
and you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't mean security.

After a while you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes open
with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child.

After a while you learn to build you roads on today because
tomorrow's grounds are too uncertain for plans.

After a while you learn that even sunshine burtns
if you get too much. SO plant your own garden
and decorate your own soil instead of waiting
for someone to bring you flowers,
And you learn that you really can endure.
...that you really are strong.
...and you really do have worth.

POWER OF PRAYER:
Author unknown.

I got up early one morning and rushed into the day
I had so much to accomplish that I didn't have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me, and heavier came each task.
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered.
He answered, "you didn't ask."

I wanted to see joy and beauty,
but the day toiled on,
gray and bleaks;
I wondered why God didn't show me.
He said, "But you didn't seek."

I tried to come into God's presence;
I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
"My child, you didn't knock."

I woke up early this morning, and paused
before entrying the day;
I had so much to accomplish that
I had to take time to pray.

Thanks, Lenore,

That was one of the first poems I learned after I accepted Christ in 1962.  I have been looking for it for years...

Blessings abound where e'er He reigns...The prisoner leaps to lose his chains; The weary find eternal rest...And all the sons of want are blest...Let every creature rise and bring peculair honours to our King; Angels descend with songs again...And earth repeat the loud Amen...Issac Watts.

THE DIVINE IMAGE

To Mercy Pity Peace and Love
All pray in their distress:
And to these virtues of delight
Return to their thankfulness.

For Mercy Pity Peace and Love,
Is God our father dear:
And Mercy Pity Peace and Love
Is Man his child and care.

For Mercy has a human heart
Pity, a human face;
And Love, the human form divine,
and Peace, the Human dress.

Then every man of every clime,
That prays in his distress,
Prays to the human form divine
Love Mercy Pity Peace.

And all must love the human form,
In heathen, turk or jew
Where Mercy, Love & Pity dwell
There God is dwelling too.

And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long, Steals on the ear the distant triumph song, and hearts are brave again and arms are strong.  Alleluia!  But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day; The Saints triumphant rise in bright array: The King of Glory passes on His way. Alleluia, Alleluia! By Bishop How.

Abide with me: fast falls the eventide; The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide:  When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.  Come not in terrors, as the King of kings; kind and good,  with healing in Thy wings: Tears for all woes, a heart for ev'ry plea; Come, Friend of sinners, thus abide with me. I fear no foe, with thee on hand to bless: Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness: Where is death's sting? where, grave, thy victory? I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.......by H.F.Lyte.

CONFESSION OF A CLUTTER BUG

Lord, bless this mess -
All of it's mine.
It keeps me in distress
All of the time.
Each item I save,
And think I may need,
Is an outward sign
Of inner greed.
Help me to let go and
Quit keeping everything.
I'm a clutter bug I know,
But You are the King of Kings!
By Your power I ask
For freedom- yes release.
Help me in my task
To let go of things, please?

A math variation on the last Psalm:

... praise him upon the high sounding symbols.
...  Praise ye the LORD.

Here might I stay and sing, No story so divine; never was love, dear King, never was grief like thine. This is my friend, in whose sweet praise I all my days could gladly spend......S.Crossman.

So that you may know and believe, there is no God before or after me. For I am the Lord and the people who I formed for myself shall declare my praise, and the flame will not set you ablaze and the river will not sweep you away, I'll send a river through the desert and a pathway through the sea and a highway in the wilderness for you .You are my rightousness declares the Lord, you are my rightousness declares the Lord, you are my rightousness declares the Lord....Song from Isaiah 43.

There seems to be a need to beware of doctrinal aberrations in songs these days.  The Bible says that the Lord is our righteousness; not the other way around.

Jeremiah 23:5-6
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Jeremiah 33:15-16
In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.  In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.

Stephen,   I appreciate your observation. I'm looking into the matter now. I've searched through several translations on Isaiah43 and they all say witnesses...perhaps the origional writers of the song meant the rightousness that is of Faith?   God Bless...Summer
