Greetings to all!

Galatians 5:1ff

Has a miracle or a search engine brought me to this site?    Grin

It is amazing to see so many names that I heard about or prayed for in prayer meetings (but have never met) on this chat site!

I am thankful to hear the news that darkness has been brought to light, but I am sad to see that so many people have been deeply affected by so few who had sway over the many.  I do not rejoice in George's downfall, but we reap what we sow.

I used to be in committed fellowship in Ottawa, Canada, in the early 90s.  I used to live in the brother's house there.  However, I left fellowship on good terms because I went to live overseas with my asian wife who also left the Assembly on good terms.  It is a long, interesting story.  Smiley  I kept in contact with many people and visited as many as I could when I returned to Canada to see my parents or study.  Presently, my wife and I are rejoicing and still living overseas.  Pray for us:  we are trying to get pregnant!  Smiley

I have been reading rickross.com over the years and many other books on cults like Churches that Abuse.  I have actually written a book about my involvement in the Assembly as a way to clarify what I believe and what the Scriptures say.  It was a worthwhile exercise that has helped me a great deal.  I never tried or intended to get the book published.

I hope this website will be a kind of cathartic, liberating  experience for those who need to talk about their experiences.  I now that writing helped me.

I still love and care for those I fellowship with and think about them from time to time.  I hope they are doing well.    However, as many know, it is difficult to stay in contact with others once you leave due to our busy schedules, etc.  I have heard that there have been many problems in some of the Canadian Assemblies (through prayer requests, etc.).

How is George's excommunication affecting the other Assemblies?  What is going on in the Canadian Assemblies?  Any news would be appreciated because I feel so out of the loop here in asia.

From reading the various posts on this bulletin board, I am seeing how wonderfully the Lord has kept our local gathering!   Cheesy How wonderful are the mercies of God!  I, and those I fellowship with, have always been a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, not a man.  Our fellowship is not riddled with insane rules and diets, or some of the other crazy things I've read about here. Wow.  Thank you Lord!

Although surprised and saddened by the events in fellowships in California, we are going forward here.  We are going forward in a spirit of truth and freedom.  Most significantly, freedom from the law!  Praise the Lord!  Our God has not changed, He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  We will walk by His instruction and His grace.

The recent events, particularly George's ex-communication, have only caused us to press deeper into our heavenly Father.  I don't consider myself to be "steeped" in "assemby teachings", but I do know the Lord, and we are rejoicing at the new work He is doing in our midst! Grin

We also continue to pray for saints in other gatherings who are discouraged, or distraught.  The freedom that the Lord provided (Gal. 5:1) has ALWAYS been available to us, and is still available.  We're claiming it!

That's the perspective from one Canadian...  Roll Eyes

What makes you think it is just a California problem?

So many in California, would have just a couple months ago, said:

"I am seeing how wonderfully the Lord has kept our local gathering!   How wonderful are the mercies of God!  I, and those I fellowship with, have always been a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, not a man.  Our fellowship is not riddled with insane rules and diets, or some of the other crazy things I've read about here. They thought it was just a SLO problem or maybe just  David Geftakys's immediate family's problem.  The truth is our story is not the only one.  I have heard so many privately throughout the years and especially after going public with my story.  These problems of abuse, overly opressive leadership, dishonesty among the leadership, and victimization of people are just symptoms of a greater problem.  A problem that has permeated this ministry, and I guarantee Canada as well.  Do you really know that nothing bad has ever occur where you are?  There are so many that were sure they had never had any problems until the victims laid it all on the line and told their stories.  There are still more to come out.  Many more have been hurt and that hurt is still preventing them from going public.  Don't continue to be niave.

hi Lenore!
I remember you, you're Flora's cousin.  How's your daughter?  She must be all grown up by now.

Smiley Cheesy
Greetings to my fellow Canadians.
Has spring finally sprung in your neck of the country.
It is trying really hard here in the Ottawa Valley.
The dandelions are in their glory. It is amazing how they know when to lie down when the lawnmower is going over them.
The birds are busy getting nest material, especially out of the old dead grass from the lawn mower. Even from the  dog h airs after a good brushing. I am sure many of robins nests have been carefully quilted with border collie, black and white fur. Those little baby robins , having a fur coat to sleep in.

The beginning leaves are budding, leaving their stems for the full leaves to show. Especially maple trees .
And the tree pollen starts, then the bugs.
The children are out more, on their bikes, skate boards, and couples walking their babies, animals or each other .

Canadian Spring is so rare, and turns from winter to summer so quickly.
Let us enjoy God creation of spring and thank the creator.
Okay Canada. Its Spring.

Rod

It has been a long time. Come on in and enjoy a virtual Tim Horton's Coffee. I guess they don't have them there. You weren't an extra on LOTR were you. That was filmed in your neck of the woods I believe.

All the best
