things have slowed down here quite a bit lately, and i have made some changes in response to that. this weekend i upgraded the bb software, as you may have noticed, and i did that so that i could add a new feature that i finished setting up today. this new functionality lets you rate threads on a scale of 0-5 (5 being the most positive recommendation). my goal with this new functionality is to identify the particulary well-written and helpful topics from the hundreds that we have here. you have to log in to vote. if you want to see what threads other people have voted for you can click on the column labeled Rating when you are viewing the list of topics for a board. the topics with the highest rating will show up at the top, sorted down to the topics with the lowest rating (or no rating) appearing at the end of the list.

the more we all give our honest votes on these threads as we browse them, the easier it will be for everyone to get to the most useful/entertaining/helpful/etc topics. whatever bits of interesting information you come across in your browsings can now be marked for others to find, rather than being buried forever in the vast pile of posts. so any help you provide in sorting all these topics out would be greatly appreciated.

i also thought that the heavy posting days that required three moderators are over. i can easily handle the slight bit of moderating that we occasionally require on here. i extend a heartfelt 'thank you' to tom and mark for their help on here over the past couple of years. of course their continued contribution is welcome, and won't really be affected all that much.

as always, feel free to share any thoughts or ideas you have in response to these changes, and let me know if anything isn't working properly.

Hello Brian!

   Thanks so much for keeping this BB going.  When I first left the Assembly I would never have believed that such a resource would ever be available for those wanting to discuss our own specific little world that surrounds Getftakysism.

   I have learned (as most of us have) that there is more Assembly type action in this world than maybe we were aware of and our ability to learn from our mistakes can be helpful to others trying to recover from confusion, abuse, and all of the other issues that bad religion can create.

  I have considered it a great blessing to be able to be involved in this BB endeavor (through all the up's and down's) and hope to keep trying to help others who shared our experiences in the GG group.

 You are correct that 3 Moderators would be over-kill, and I am, quite frankly, rather relieved to be released from the job as my frequent absences made it difficult for me to really follow what was going on.

  One of these days (probably when I retire in a few years) I will get around to writing a book based on the stories of wounded pilgrims (like I post on that thread).  Though many of us here are past needing that particular kind of help there will always be a new GG styled group that pops up and fresh cases of needy souls that are looking for answers.

  It's easy to be critical (and/or take for granted)  a BB, and of those who make the effort to maintain it, because such a "community" is fraught with all the foibles of human social interaction found within the context of public posting (kind of like a CB radio where people will and do say things they would never say in person).  There are those that just can't tolerate those that have different opinions and if they can't control a conversation they will either try to destroy the BB or take their ball and go home.

   I would like to thank you Brian for weathering the storm in these battles and for keeping the site open for those who are more interested in finding and giving help vs. trying to dominate the lives of others.  I have received great help from the efforts of others here and this BB has made a lasting difference in how I perceive things.  I would like to thank those who have (and continue to) post here, though I often do not post a reply---- please understand that there are many who read postings who never ever respond, but for whom it makes a great difference in their lives.

Things may have "slowed down a bit"---but it's also amazing if you look at the very bottom of the main screen it says "Most Ever On Line" and says that 58 people were on the board at the same time on June 7, 2006. So it may have slowed, but there are still many visitors.

i thought i'd try out this new theme, which lets you change the color scheme as you please and only for yourself. just click one of the little colored rectangles at the top of the page and watch it transform before your very eyes. is there anything modern technology can't do??  ;D

Regarding the color scheme change, check this out:

Put your face about six inches from the screen. Then put the cursor arrow on the colors in the
right hand corner above.  Click this specific combination of colors in rapid succession (keep your face 6 inches from the screen though):  green, light blue, red, magenta,red, dark green, orange, purple, dark blue, red, red, magenta.  Then look off into space. You should see an image, closely resembling the Mona Lisa, slowly appear . You will see a bit clearer image if you take your medication before beginning the clicking process.  I've tried various combinations, and the one I gave above seems to work the best. I'm trying to find out what combination of colors might bring about an image of the "Last Supper", but so far no luck.  I'll try a bit more medication next time, and try a few other combinations of colors I haven't tried yet, and get back to you with the results.

OK---the new data is in.  I upped my medication by one tablet (drink it down with a great big
bottle of Monster energy drink) and waited for exactly 21-1/2 minutes (I had to experiment with
the medication, and it has taken a couple of months in the lab to get this just right). I believe any
anxiety medication will work---instead of the normal 30mg---increase to 60mg.

Then click on the colors above in this exact manner (keep your eyes wide open and stare directly
at the screen (six inches away or closer) so you will get the effect from the flashing colors): purple, red, orange, army green,purple, red, light blue, magenta, light blue and then green. (click on these as rapidly as possible, keeping
your eyes wide open, six inches from the surface, as you stare at the flashing screen).

Now, look off into space.  You should see Popeye on top of a frisbee that is being held in the mouth of a Great Dane who is riding a unicycle.  So far, it has worked every time.  I'm going to mix up the medication a bit more, and I'll have further results soon.
