: WORLD SERIES
: Joe Sperling October 21, 2003, 05:11:15 AM
Well, the Cubs lost, and then the Red Sox lost--that would have been some World Series. I have to admit, I was forlorn, but I finally took the rifle barrel out of my mouth, and decided to see how the Marlins/Yankees World Series pans out.  ;D

So, I'm going to make a prediction---it might be kind of fun to see who gets this right. Right now the series is tied 1-1-----I will say that the Series goes six games with the Yankees winning 4-2. Anyone agree--or what is your prediction? If you think the Marlins can pull it off, you are entitled to your very unintelligent and uniformed decision ;D, if you think the Yankees will win I admire you for your foresight :D  I'm taking the middle ground on this one for sure---but it's really strange, I look down at the middle ground and it has "Go Yankees" written all over it. Oh well.

I know that everyone assumes that the Yankees will win; but I'm rooting for the Underdog!  Go Marlins!!!

Though I was born in Chicago and raised a Blackhawk fan, I defected to the Blues because they are becomming the Cubs of Hockey.(they just can't seem to win the big one)

Hey, Joe,

Have you heard about the latest yuppie craze? They are setting up kick ball leagues and t-ball leagues for adults. Seriously.

You can even see a billboard ad for it along the outfield wall in the Marlins' stadium.

Sounds kind of fun actually.

That sounds great! T-ball is the only way to go. I strike out a lot less that way. ;D  Hey--do they have any tetherball leagues starting up? T-ball and balls tied to a string are right up my alley.

Mark,

Anybody EXCEPT the Skankees!

Actually I'm a Cardinals fan so this has been a very painful year. I did manage to choke back my pride and root for the Cubbies, but only so I could handle listening to my old man crow about it every time we spoke!

No we do not go to the games, but we sometimes watch them on TV (don't tell anyone that we watch TV in our home). Watched the Grey Cup on Sunday; it was a good game.
I've been told that the ticket prices are quite high.
re. outdoor rinks. Not yet. It's +something today.

Marcia, God has no objection to our families gathering to watch TV at home.  It is only turning it on that makes it evil! ;)

Hey Marcia,
I'm looking out my window at 3" of snow and it's still falling at a pretty good clip here in Missouri.
I'm taking the kids to an old outdoor skating rink today in downtown St. Louis, ( we do this every year) it's about the size of 2 regulation hockey rinks. They serve the worlds greatest hot chocolate and always have a good bonfire going. Then we are going Christmas shopping.

Everytime time I been to Canada it's been nothing but a blast. As a kid my uncle was a parish priest in Kitchner, Ontario so we would go to visit in the summers. People there were great.
I never get tired of Niagara Falls, (what an awesome living testimony to the power of God) hoping to take the kids there this summer.
Banff in Alberta was the best to ski besides being one of the beautiful places I ever been.
I like it north of the border.

Yes.  This was probably the first time in my life that I could actually root for my local team in the Superbowl.  But, I am proud of the way they did.  I didn't expect them to do as well as they did against the more experienced Patriots.  But, they came very close to beating them.

Of course, this was Deja Vu.  I was rooting for the Rams agains NE two years ago.

I found myself routing for the Panthers, even though i had New England in the football pool at work. It seemed like they deserved to win the game. Those long pass plays were something else!!

: Re:WORLD SERIES
: lenore May 19, 2004, 10:38:37 AM
:D ;)world series is Baseball Right:::

My mother is a baseball fanatic. She watches the games on the television from April to October, and after that she says there is nothing on tv.
At easter she told us she has not been to a live baseball game since 1952, when she lived out in Manitoba.
Complained when the Jays cames to Toronto, everyone promised her , but no one took her.
The same thing happened whent he Lynx came to Ottawa, Every one and his brother promised to take her to a game. Not one person fulfilled that promise.

When My Daughter Sara age 17, heard that, when Sara left after finishing Sunday Easter Supper, which the family crowd around the kitchen table (13) and we  were missing 4.
Sara turn to her Nanny, said "NAN' I take you to a ball game.
She had no idea when and how she would fulfill that promise.
Do you want to hear how God intervened and helped Sara fulfilled her promise.

Sara won a few awards at school the next week.
One of them was an Ottawa Lynx award for the most improved student.
Guess who she took with her.
Yep! Her Nanny.!!!!!
The trip occurred last Friday evening May 14.
My 72 year old mother and my 17 year old daughter went to the Lynx Ballgame.
Sara had to go with four other from her school arnprior and district high school, as well as many others from schools from all over the province(?).
Sara principal, was a good company for my mother.
Sara said she was bored. Sara is not a ball fan.
Nanny kept her entertained, and educated Sara of all the fine points of watching ball, and what takes place
at a ball stadium.  Remember, my mother has not seen a live baseball game in over 50 years.
Sara was taken back abit, of the knowledge her Nanny knew and all on Ball.
My Mother will cheer for the Canadian Teams First.
Then I dont know. As long as it is a ball game.
You go and visited her on a Sunday afternoon, her own television in the kitchen, she is in her rocker, and she has the knitting needles going,  watching the ball game.
My Mother will even tell the announcer to Shut Up, and let her watch the game.
One of the ball players is called(Spelling(?))
DELGATO(?)...
And there is a pitchers that  has only one arm.
My Mother's wish now, that she would like to go back to a Lynx game so she could go back and enjoy the game, without having to educate Sara boredom so much.
So what do you think, HOW GOD WORKED THIS OUT, SO MY DAUGHTER CAN HONOUR HER PROMISE TO HER GRANDMOTHER,
She made the promise April 11 Easter Sunday, and fulfilled May 14.
IT WAS ONLY GOD AT WORK. we had no knowledge of those Lynx tickets, nor the knowledge that Sara was going to win an award.
IT WAS ONLY GOD, GIVING SARA THE FAITH , THAT SHE WAS GOING TO TAKE HER GRANDMOTHER TO A BALLGAME.
GOD PROVIDED THE MEANS, THE WAY, AND THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROMISE, FROM START TO FINISH

WORLD SERIES , WORLD SERIES BELONGS TO THE LORD, AND PRAISE FOR FULFILLMENT OF A PROMISE MADE BY A GRANDDAUGHTER. THAT A GOD'S WORLD SERIES.
