Yes!  The Lord is using it in our lives to answer some questions, connect us with old friends, and look at different perspectives. It makes us laugh, often at ourselves, and some of the quotes are great. Many of the posts have made us consider things we hadn't before. Communication, even when flawed, is a good thing.
"He who can no longer listen to his brother will soon be no longer listening to God either,...Christians have forgotten that the ministry of listening has been committed to them by Him who is Himself the great listener and whose work they should share."

Yes!  It has been a real encouragement to me.  By it I've been reminded that I'm not alone.

Recently we were reunited with brothers and sisters we have not seen in years.  If it were not for the courage of Brent and the meny who has spoken up, this would not have happened.
Thank you all.  Grin Grin Grin

It seems obvious to me that most people that left the assembly system before this website went up did so as a result of one or more traumatic experiences (usually involving the leadership).  The emotional trauma caused them to gradually question the validity of their commitment and to eventually decide to leave.  When they left they still suffered emotional stress due to their assembly experience.

Speaking for myself, I can say that the website has provided the opportunity to see the ugliness of the assembly system without having to experience the kinds of trauma that MANY others did.  Those of us who started reading the website after GG's excommunication had it so easy.  We were told by the leadership (in SLO at least) that the website would be used for healing.  That meant we could read the site without having to fear their slander.  Though it was traumatic for me to read and assimilate the information, it took only 2 weeks for me to proceed from being totally committed to the assembly to being happy after having left.  This is not to say that I will not have discouraging days ahead, but I know I've had it easy compared to others.

Perhaps others will read these accounts and be freed as I have.  It may not seem to some that they are edifying, but the posts and articles are helping people avoid suffering needlessly.

Greetings everyone:

The history behind the man/family has been very edifying to me. Since about 92 when I read Churches That Abuse
and then racked up huge phone bills trying to gather info from Ron Enroth,CRI, SCP, Answers in Action, JPUSA (Eric Pement), the orig. CAN, AFA, former leaders and followers, etc., my simple questions were: what and with whom was I involved with and how did this movement come about? This might be of secondary importance to many of us, but I felt at the time that I if could know the history of the man/movement I cd. gain an useful understanding that wd. enable me to move on (closure, if you will) in my life and also not feel that those years were totally in vain that were spent in the Assembly. Of course I cd. mention other things....
A small footnote to recent ex-Assembly members:
I am happy for you that you are out and wish you the best.
Not only is knowing the facts about the Assembly and where it came from important, but also accepting our responsibility for joining or staying in it as long as we did. I'm not saying this to condemn anyone, I just don't want history to repeat itself in anyone's life. Besides, taking responsibility where appropriate is both a sign of health and the road that leads to it.
Respectfully,
Sebastian Andrew
