"Woe to the shepherds who mislead and scatter the flock of my pasture, says the Lord.  Therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, against the shepherds who shepherd my people:  You have scattered my sheep and driven them away.  You have not cared for them, but I will take care to punish your evil deeds.  I myself will gather the remnant of my flock from all the lands to which I have driven them and bring them back to their meadow; there they shall increase and multiply.  I will appoint shepherds for them who will shepherd them so that they need no longer fear and tremble; and none shall be missing, says the Lord."  -- Jeremiah 23:1-4

This, in context, is specifically a promise for Israel.  But I think the spirit of it applies to us, too.

Wow.  I am impressed.

I can see why you got chills.  I would have gotten them too.

Believe it or not, I ran across this reading because it was read during Sunday Mass in the Catholic Church.

Awesome verse!! I used that passage three years ago when I wrote to the LB's of SLO assembly as to why I was leaving. It makes me afraid for the people who have driven people AWAY from Christ. There is talk on this BB about all the good the assembly did and all the people that got saved BUT what about ALL the people who have left the assembly and TURNED AWAY from God?? The balancing doesn't seem to be equal.

Woe to the men who have scattered the sheep and driven them away. Woe to the LB's who are still involved: Tim Geftakys, Wes Cohen, Mike S., Jim McAlister, Scott Testa, Dan Mattsson-Boze, Dave Zorn and whoever else is out there acting as a shepherd. Your very life is in jeopardy.
